About Completely in the Dark
Michael Maupin is chief storyteller at StoryShed Learning & Media LLC, and blogs from Minneapolis, Minnesota. You can view his resume here. A recovering screenwriter, he started Completely in the Dark (CITD) in 2001 to blog about narrative in cinema.
He’s been a diarist since 1972 and continues to keep journals. In 2008 his parents died and he switched focus to family stories—trying to make sense of life while still being “completely in the dark.” CITD publishes (mostly by) Friday noon Central Standard Time.
If you’ve been a longtime reader, he invites you to please make a donation of whatever amount you can afford (please use the contact form below to get info on Venmo, and thank you!). If you’re a new visitor, he’s glad you’ve stopped by, and will now stop writing in the third person.

Love New York Movie, one of my favorite Hopper paintings. Sometime maybe I’ll find time to read something you wrote, too.

It was the image I used when I wrote about movies and scriptwriting. Love the idea of a story up on a movie screen and a story out in the lobby with the usherette. THAT totally jazzes me. 🙂
